The Salt Lake Valley Metro Fire Agency has organized a number of work groups to focus on special functions and needs of the Metro Fire Agency. Five of those groups are:
- Arson Investigations - Joint Arson Fire Investigations (JAFI)
- Metro VECC Users
- Public Relations, Education, and Information
- Purchasing
- Special Operations
The JAFI group coordinates sharing of information between fire investigators. They also provide training and support each other by rotating an on-call investigator to assist with investigations Metro-Wide.
The Metro VECC Users group is working towards a single common dispatch protocol for the Metro Fire Agency.
The Public Relations group is progressing to combining staff, funding, and effort in better educating our citizens about fire and life safety.
The purchasing group is coordinating purchasing efforts in the Metro Fire Agency by issuing joint RFP/RFQ’s for purchase of items such as firefighter personal protective equipment and uniforms.
The Special Operations group coordinates training and response in those unique specialized areas that the Metro Fire Agency provides such as Hazardous Materials and Technical Rescue response.
